Do You Need a Guest Book?

Short answer - YES! Guest books are an age-old tradition for remembering the attendees at your wedding. In the most conventional way, a guest book is exactly how it sounds: a little book filled with blank lines for guests to sign. Over the years, couples have gotten creative with their guest books and made them more personalized. There are lots of fun ways to keep track of your wedding guests, I’ve put a few of my favorite ideas below!

Advice Cards

If you want to step outside of the box with your wedding guestbook, consider having your guests write down a piece of advice or two! You’re likely to have guests who’ve been married for at least a few years, so take advantage of their knowledge! You can provide custom stationery or just cute note cards for them to write on and place in a box or jar. Don’t forget to have your friends and family sign their name so you can refer back to the person who offered their wisdom to you.

Framed photo

The fun part about using a photo of you and your fiancé as the background for your guestbook is that you can display as a decoration in your first home! There are a few ways you can do this, but one of my favorites is printing an engagement photo and framing it with a wide mat. Your guests can leave their well-wishes on the border and you can keep forever as a reminder of all the friends and family who have supported you!

Photobook

Do you want to use a wedding photo for your guestbook, but you have a long list of engagement or formal photos that you’re just in love with? When you book a shoot with me, I will send you a whole gallery of photos; and I know firsthand that it can be difficult to choose just one. A photo album guest book is the perfect solution to that problem! Did you know that you can create a photobook in advance through Clarity Lane? You can! These little books make perfect guestbooks!

Polaroid pictures

Speaking of guestbook pictures, why not switch things up and use photos of your friends and family as a way to remember your guests? You can do this by having each attendee take a polaroid picture of themselves and sign it. Then they can add it to a photo album for you to keep! Could there be a more perfect way to remember your wedding than by capturing each guest who was there? It’s such a darling idea!

Wooden sign

One of the most adorable ways I’ve seen couples memorialize their guest book is to create a large wooden sign with the bride and groom’s name and wedding date on it. Then, in all the blank space around the couple’s name, their guests can sign or write well wishes. This option also makes for a really beautiful home decoration after the wedding day is over. You will be able to remember your friends and family for years and years to come!

Did you come up with your own guest book idea? Feel free to share in the comments!
