Engagement Session Tips: Helping the Groom Feel More Comfortable
Congratulations, you’re engaged!! We hope you’ve done lots of celebrating and are on your way to planning your big day.
Engagement photos are part of the planning process and can be such a fun experience with the right attitudes. Many brides are thrilled to be taking engagement photos while their grooms aren’t quite as thrilled. We’ve put together a list in helping you and fiancé have the best experience at your engagement session.
Make a Day out of It
That’s right; make your engagement shoot a whole exciting day! Dress up, go into town, explore, and eat out! An engagement shoot can feel like you’re getting ready for nothing other than photos, so why not make it a memorable day.
Feed Him
Nothing is worse than being “hangry” when you’re supposed to be happy in a photoshoot. Feed your man before showing up to your engagement session and bring snacks for breaks in between location changes and clothing changes. A picnic may even be a great way to curb your hunger.
Let Him Help Pick His Outfit
Let’s be real, we love to dress our men up but that doesn’t always make them comfortable. Help pick out a few outfit options but let him be the ultimate decision-maker. This will boost his confidence in front of the camera knowing he picked out a great outfit.
Get Comfortable with Your Photographer
Meet up with your photographer before the photoshoot so you can humanize the person behind the lens. Go out for dessert or drinks to get to know each other. This will help bring out your authentic smiles when it comes time for the photoshoot.
Music
Music has a way of calming nerves! Put music on in the background of your engagement session so there isn’t any room for awkward silence. This can also help you and your fiancé get lost in the music, and maybe even dance freely, which makes for great candid photographs.
We hope these engagement session tips help you and your fiancé have the most memorable photoshoot!! What would you add to this list?
