Four Tips for Choosing Your First Dance Song
You’ve made your vows, stuffed each other’s faces with delicious cake, and now you’re ready to throw on those dancing shoes! Whether you are a waltzing wizard or a macarena master, one wedding day memory you will cherish forever is the first dance between you and your new spouse. Struggling to choose the perfect first dance song? I’ve seen my fair share of first dances and have a few tricks to help you decide.
Find the Right Words
Each love story begins somewhere — perhaps you were high school sweethearts, conquered the long-distance relationship, or maybe you both swiped right! Wherever your story began, there is sure to be a love song to put words to your unique story.
Take a Trip Down Memory Lane
Is there a particular song that sparks the memory of your first date? Maybe there’s a special song that you heard right before your first kiss. Taking an hour to talk about your favorite experiences as a couple might just inspire the perfect song for your first dance!
Find a Beat You Can Dance To
There are plenty of songs that resonate with our souls but don’t necessarily make it easy to dance, especially with a partner. There are many different dance styles and tempos - listen to your favorite song choices together, and see which one makes you tap your toes. You’ll want to find a song with a beat you’re comfortable dancing to!
Dare to Be Different
Are you a non-traditional couple with a unique or funny love story? Perhaps a more traditional dance with a side-to-side swaying motion isn’t quite your style. Whatever your special song may be, dance to it the way you want. Choreographed, swaying, even the “sprinkler” - the possibilities are endless!
