The Great Debate: Real Flowers Versus Fake

Flowers are a big part of planning a wedding, they may be the most important part of your wedding venue’s decorations, and they will be featured in your wedding photos for the rest of your life! There are a lot of things to think about when choosing flowers, one of those being whether to choose real or artificial flowers. Today we’ll explore some of the things you should think about when deciding which will work best for you.

Cost comparison.

Your floral arrangements are sure to be one of the most expensive parts of your wedding. Most brides are looking for ways to cut costs and going with artificial flowers may be one way to do that. However, there is some debate whether fake flowers are actually cheaper than real flowers. If you choose to go with artificial flowers, the cost will depend on the quality of the flowers and where you get them. If you order real-touch, silk flowers, arranged by a florist; you are probably not going to save any money. If you order artificial flowers from an online wholesaler and arrange them yourself, you will definitely save money over real flowers.

Another aspect of cost is what type of flowers you are choosing and if they are in season or not. Out of season fresh flowers are likely to be more expensive than their silk counterparts. Certain types of fresh flowers are also pricier depending on where you live and how exotic the flower is.

Look and smell.

In this arena, real flowers take the cake! Although artificial flowers can be beautiful and look so close to the fresh ones that no one will notice, nothing compares to the real thing. Real flowers can also fill the room with an amazing scent. The beautiful smell of a room full of flowers is sure to create strong memories.

Storing and durability.

Artificial flowers have so many advantages when it comes to storing and durability. When choosing your flowers, you should consider how long you need them to last. Are you having all of your wedding festivities and photos done on one day, or is your reception going to be the day after the ceremony? Are you planning multiple receptions in different locations? Will your formal wedding photos be taken in advance? If you need your flowers to last more than 3 days, artificial is the way to go!

Fake flowers won’t wilt in hot or humid weather and won’t freeze in cold weather. Fake flowers will look great not only for your wedding day and reception, but for a lifetime! If you are a sentimental person, artificial flowers may be a good choice for you so that you can keep your bouquet forever.

If you decide to go with real flowers, make sure you have some coolers or a large refrigerator to store them in if you need them to last more than 24 hours. This could be tricky if you have multiple bouquets, boutonnieres, and centerpieces to keep cool.

Now that you have considered these important points, you probably have a good idea of what would work better for you. Another thing to think about is using a mix of fake and real flowers. Maybe you choose a fresh bouquet for yourself but choose silk arrangements for the tables. Whatever you choose, flowers bring so much beauty to your wedding celebration. Don’t forget to take a moment to stop and smell the roses on your special day!
