Understanding Flash Photography | Free PDF

One of my passions as a photographer is educating other photographers on how to improve the quality of their photography. I know learning all the tricks of the trade of this job can be overwhelming, so I find so much joy in helping you become the best photographer you can be.

With that said, today I wanted to share with you my newest FREEBIE which is a PDF guide to using flash photography to attain light and bright wedding photos. I LOVE using flash photography and I LOVE teaching others how to use it. Now before we dive into the guide, let's talk about why it is so important for you to learn how to use flash photography.

WHY FLASH PHOTOGRAPHY?

Flash photography is such an important skill for all photographers to learn. Light is a foundation to any good portrait. The lighting is key to highlighting your subject or making the subject the focal point of any scene. Now, in a perfect photography world, all our shoots would just naturally have dreamy lighting and we could just let nature do the work for us. However, you can't rely on a venue, location, or the weather to produce the light you need for a shoot. By knowing how to use flash photography, you are able to completely control the lighting in your portrait sessions and are able to make minor adjustments as needed.

Another reason flash photography is such a valuable skill for a photographer is because sometimes, even in the best and brightest natural light, shooting outdoors will produce weird shadows on the face or body of your client. In this case, you will want to find a shady spot to photograph, and the use of flash photography will save the day. Not to mention, Mother Nature tends to be really unpredictable and you never know when a cloudy sky may appear and you'll need to produce your own light. No matter the situation, I assure you that as a photographer you will always be grateful you have the skill set to use flash photography in your shoots.

As you can see, learning and understanding lighting is a core principle of any type of photography especially portraits, so I am so proud of you for being here and being ready to put in the work to learn this amazing skill.

In this free guide, you’re going to learn my three steps to creating light and bright images while using flash.

THE STEPS YOU WILL LEARN IN THIS COURSE INCLUDE:

  1. Raise Your Camera Setting

  2.  Lower Your Flash Settings

  3. Use Modifiers and Diffusers

Now, before you go on to check out my FREEBIE, I want to say a quick thank you for investing in your education and trusting me to be your guide to the world of flash wedding photography. This is truly my passion and I’m so excited to be sharing it with you! Best of luck on your flash journey — I’m cheering you on every step of the way!
