Seven Ideas for Bonding With Your Long-Distance Fiancé

Being engaged is such a fun stage in your life. It’s a time for couples to make wedding plans and begin to celebrate their love together. However for some couples, physically being together is a luxury. Long-distance relationships can be tough! Especially when you’re engaged. But being far apart can actually help you grow closer to one another! In this blog post, I’ve compiled seven ideas for bonding with your long-distance fiancé.

Send them a care package

Whether it’s a special occasion or you’re just missing your fiancé, sending them a care package is a fun way to show your love. If you’re at a loss for ideas, consider filling the package with some of their favorite things, a handwritten note, or printed pictures of you both. Maybe even decorate it with their favorite colors! Whether you go all out or put together something simple, make sure it’s personalized to your fiancé.

Start a TV Show Together

Even though you aren’t in the same place, it doesn’t mean you can’t both enjoy the suspense of a new TV show together! Decide on a movie or show that you both haven’t seen, and watch an episode at the same time. You can even call each other afterward and chat about your predictions for the next episodes. My best advice for watching any show with your significant other is to not watch ahead! Half of the fun is going through the emotions of a new TV series together.

Try cooking the same recipe

If you can’t cook together, why not try cooking the same thing at the same time? Whether you consider yourself a seasoned chef or you’re just a beginner, this can be a really fun activity for long-distance couples. Lookup a fun recipe online (make sure it matches your skill level, of course) and send it to your fiancé. Then, go to work cooking the meal you chose! Consider video calling each other when you sit down to eat. You can laugh together over your shared successes (or your failures!).

Play an online board game

Luckily, you’re living in a time when it’s easier than ever to connect with someone long-distance. Take advantage of all the internet has to offer! There are lots of apps and websites where you can play virtual board games with someone who is in another state or country. Whether it’s checkers or a fun word game, this is a great way to bond with your fiancé without being in the same room as them.

Send them their favorite treat

As I mentioned, the internet can be a super helpful resource in your long-distance relationship! Thanks to food delivery apps, ordering food for someone you love has never been easier. If your fiancé is a sucker for a specific restaurant or dessert, take a few minutes to place an order that will go right to their house! You can surprise them completely by having their favorite food show up at their door.

Mail handwritten notes or letters

In some ways, the classic romantic gestures are still the best. If you’re having one of those times where you feel especially lonely for your significant other, writing them a letter might cheer you up. Whether it’s romantic or just an update on your day, your fiancé will be sure to feel closer to you after receiving something handwritten.

Call them regularly

I know this may seem obvious, but sometimes hearing your partner’s voice is all that you need at the end of a long day. Sometimes you may want to talk about big feelings or important topics, but don’t feel pressure to make every conversation deep. Just talk about regular things, like the best parts of your day or something funny that happened to you. Set up a regular time to call each other and just enjoy being able to talk and connect.

I hope these ideas are helpful to you! Have you been in a long distance relationship? What else should we add to this list?
