Think Outside the Box with Your Wedding Florals
Let’s talk about wedding florals today! This is one of my favorite subjects as a hobby florist myself! A while back, I spoke with Sarah from Blushing Rose Floral about her business and her passion and one of the topics we discussed was ways for brides to think outside the box when it comes to their wedding florals.
Here are five ways to keep your wedding floral design unique and personalized to YOU and your wedding:
Incorporate meaningful details into your wedding flowers. Whether you have a flower that represents a special moment in your relationship, like a flower he gave you on your first date, or a bloom that grew in your home garden, there are so many ways to inject sentimental emotions into your wedding florals.
Plan your wedding florals together, with your sweetheart! Don’t let just one of you take the reigns and make these decisions. Planning together means you’ll each get a say and you can regard your floral design as a decision you came together on, representing your bond as a couple.
Or, you can let your florist get to know you. Give her some ideas of what you love, and let her run with the creative freedom to create something that is truly unique to you! Sometimes, when wedding week rolls around, certain flowers at the wholesaler may look absolutely amazing that you weren’t necessarily planning on using. Give your florist enough creative freedom to bring those options into the mix if she thinks they’ll fit. It gives the design a bit of extra magic!
Consider a full-on wedding installation! Whether it's a ceremony arch, hanging florals over the dining tables, or a floral wall, having a big installation like this is truly magical in setting the scene. This is also another beautiful way to incorporate sentimental meaning into your wedding day! One of my brides has fond memories of running through her grandparents' property and picking wildflowers so she incorporated very whimsical and cheerful wildflowers into her decor.
Lastly, if there is one thing Pinterest has taught us, it’s that beautiful detail shots from your wedding day are a treasure. Utilize your venue’s unique location or decor to get a killer shot of your bouquet atop the fireplace mantle, florals adorning a winding staircase, or soft blooms hanging from a bold chandelier. Adding florals to unique places will make the wedding venue feel more natural and customized to your wedding day.
