Why Does Picking the Right Photographer Matter?

Picking the right photographer is a huge decision! In fact, photographers rival wedding planners when it comes to the top vendors who will influence your wedding day.

The reason choosing the right photographer is so important is primarily because the photos taken on your wedding day are some of the only things you get to keep after the wedding is over (besides your husband of course). Your wedding photos will be a reminder of how you felt on that special day and will capture all the details that took months or even years to put together.

My recommendation to those looking for a photographer is to make sure you pick someone who will capture your day with a timeless style that won't make you cringe in 20 years. You may not think your photographer selection could be the culprit of cringe-worthy wedding photos but it happens all too often! Your photographer should be someone who will make you smile and who magnifies the joy and emotion felt on your wedding day. The goal of a good photographer is to capture all the wonderful moments that you want to remember from that day including creating and documenting candid moments.

As a photographer, I know that good photographers do not merely silently observe but rather they help prepare you and coach you through what is happening. Your wedding day can be overwhelming and your photographer should be on your team with their head in the game ready to support you through moments where emotion takes over. Your photographer should walk you through the predetermined steps of the day so that you can be present and carefree. Once a support relationship is established, that is when the magic happens and the photographer is able to capture all the beautiful snippets in time that show the raw emotions and the pure love shared on your very special day!
