Winter Mountain Bridals | A Snowy Session at Tibble Fork

There’s cold, and then there’s photographing-in-the-mountains-through-below-freezing-temperatures-and-windy conditions-surrounded-by-feet-and-feet-of-snow cold. It was a chilling experience, to say the least! Thank goodness one of my favorite locations, Tibble Fork Reservoir up American Fork Canyon, is absolutely stunning in the snow and Francesca and Kaleb were the biggest troopers during our freezing session.

Originally, we wanted to photograph at the ice stacks that collect on Utah Lake, but since there weren’t any that week, we decided to go up the canyons instead. Tibble Fork Reservoir, a gorgeous freshwater lake located in American Fork Canyon, was the perfect backup location for our wintry photoshoot.

My amazing friend Bronte, whose floral-filled bridals and wedding I photographed last fall, is a florist who loves bold and bright colors. She put together the most stunning Valentine’s Day-colored bouquet and joined us up in the mountains for our snowy session. The red and purple florals truly popped against the white, snowy background of these portraits. The bouquet was wrapped in long ribbons that matched the brightly colored flowers and flowed in the chilly winter breeze.

I used every trick in the book to keep us all warm during our winter bridal session. Francesca and Kaleb layered up, and we stuck hand warmers in every pocket, nook, and cranny we could. Once everyone was ready to brave the cold, we got to work photographing the most stunning wintery session. The bride, Francesca's, dress by Salt Gowns was absolutely beautiful. The flowing sequin skirt and long, wide sleeves made for a truly original gown that was perfect for the winter season.

Francesca has a background as a dancer, so it was no surprise that she was effortlessly graceful and charming during the session. Her smile is so radiant! And I’ve rarely worked with a groom who’s so kind, considerate of his girl’s comfort, and genuinely laughs through the whole session. Kaleb and Francesca make such a great couple, and it was a blast, albeit a freezing one, to work with them for a snowy winter session at Tibble Fork Reservoir.
